Just 35 minutes from Castellammare del Golfo is the village of Salemi .
One of the most interesting countries in terms of art, monuments and culture.
In 1860, with the ‘landing of the Thousand’ at Marsala, after the first battle the Garibaldini arrived in Salemi, naming it the first capital of Italy, for one night only, waving the tricolour flag.
Among the things to see in Salemi are the remains of the Norman-Swabian castle,
a true medieval fortress where in the evenings there are various cultural performances.
In the historical centre are royal palaces, basilicas and churches.
